We are so excited to announce that the clinic is growing again with the introduction of the “Stress Reduction Clinic” facilitated by Michelle Black (see bio below). Michelle will be joining our team at Embrace Wellness Centre one day a week offering Counselling services with a focus on Stress Reduction.
We all confront numerous challenges every day, such as meeting deadlines, paying bills and juggling childcare that make your body react. The throbbing headache that appears everyday when you finish work, the anxiety or belly ache that comes just before an important presentation or the muscles aches that leave you tense and tried after paying your bills. As a result, your body’s natural alarm system – the “fight or flight” response – my get stuck in the on position and that can have serious consequenc-es for your health and wellbeing.
When faced with stressful situations, the body kicks into gear, flooding the body with hormones that elevate your heart rate, increase your blood pressure, boost your energy and prepare you to deal with the problems at hand. However, when stress starts interfering with your ability to live a normal and fulfilling life, it can easily lead to exhaustion.
With more than 20 years’ experience working as a senior executive in the corporate and education sectors, Michelle’s expertise in dealing with stress reduction techniques comes from first-hand knowledge. Having recently published her master’s thesis in Counselling Australia (insert link – pp 8-13) Michelle is eager to get you back on the road to health by teaching you the skills you need to address your individual stress responses.
