Wellbeing starts with health and is not just the absence of disease or illness. It is a complex combination of your physical, mental, emotional & social health factors that can help you feel whole. Wellbeing is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. Have you recently taken stock of your health and wellbeing? Are you living up to your full potential?

Winter is coming and the year is quickly getting away. Time is quickly passing by, not enough hours in the day, not enough days in the week. The struggles and strains of everyday life can leave you feeling drained, exhausted, overwhelmed and fatigued. Ready to make a change? Today is the day to take control of your life, to become the best you, you can be. Take the 5 question challenge & see how you measure up.

5 question potential chart

This questionnaire was originally developed by the World Health Organisation in 1986 and is better known as the WHO-Five Well-being Index. After you answer the 5 questions, add up your score and multiple it by 4 to give you a score out of 100. The closer your score is to 100, the greater the possibility that you are reaching your wellbeing potential. Scores below 60 indicate that there is some room for improvement and often by making a few small changes you can drastically change your life. With the changing of the seasons, it is a great opportunity to take a look in the mirror & make some adjustments that support your health and wellbeing. Become empowered and take those steps today to start becoming a better you.

Looking for more answers? Not happy with your wellbeing score or want to find out more about how your wellbeing is affecting your life? Take the next challenge.

I have included a link from Queensland Health that calculates your health and fitness age. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, asking a range of questions from how often you exercise to how regularly you eat vegetables and fruit. At the end of the survey, they give some suggestions on how to change those habits that don’t serve you and gives you the tools to take control of your health.   The results of the survey will be emailed to you directly with options to download the app so you can track your progress & make meaningful changes in your life. You can take control of your health & wellbeing, the journey starts now.

The best advice is to start slowly, making incremental changes one week at a time. If you make smaller, more frequent changes you have a much greater chance of success in reaching your goals. We all slip & fall from time to time, but the best thing we can do is stand up, dust ourselves off & start again. Within time, you’ll really start to see the changes you’ve made, which will help to keep the momentum rolling. You can feel confident that you’re taking the right steps.

After taking the challenge I realised that I’m not far off from reaching my goals, but there were a few glaring holes that need to be addressed… I blame uni for that :D. I didn’t realise how much time I spend at my desk and every week I find I’m sitting even more. I live so close to the beach, but find I’m not taking advantage of our beautiful coastline. All I’m going to do to start is walk 1 day/wk for 45 minutes on my day off and slowly build that over time. It’s the little steps I can take to make positive changes in my life, getting me back into balance allowing for a more focused, renewed & invigorated self.
